By car:

Depending on the traffic in Mumbai city, the drive to Alibaug may take anywhere around 2 to 3 hours by road. But, the route is beautiful and the drive pretty relaxing. Down NH17 to Vadkhal Naka past Karnala and Pen lies Alibaug. Be careful not to take the left curve on NH 17 to Goa but to go straight ahead over Dharamtar Creek, Poynad, Kaloshi & Khandale landing at Alibaug.

There are many hotels on the route at Karnala, Vadkhal Naka, etc. and many tea stalls dotting the route. Enjoy these en route halts and refresh yourself.

By Bus:

There are regular everyday buses that leave from Mumbai central and Borivli ST stands while the former takes around 3 hours, the latter takes 4 hours to reach Alibaug.

By Sea

The easiest and fastest way to reach Alibaug is by the sea from the Gateway of India. The catamarans and boats are available at regular intervals and they drop you at Mandwa Jetty. From here, you can take a bus or jeep taxi to Alibaug. During the monsoons, the boat service is erratic and Alibaug mostly remains cut off by the sea route.
